Vanessa Howard, Graduate Intern*

Supervised by Cherie Miller, LPC-S, CEDS, IEDS
*Vanessa is a low-fee provider

From my earliest memories, I’ve been the person people turn to when life feels heavy. Friends and family nicknamed me “The Vault” because they knew their stories were safe with me. I offer a space where people can explore their emotions, face hard truths, and work through the difficulties of life with compassion, curiosity, and zero judgment.

My own healing journey was so life-changing that I knew I wanted to become a counselor and help others find that same hope and relief. As Master’s counseling student, a certified Youth and Adult Mental Health Coach, and a Certified Crisis Interventionist, I am trained to support clients through complex emotional challenges. My goal is to offer warmth, stability, and practical tools to help people untangle the wounded parts of their story and move toward healing.

My qualifications

I am a graduate intern pursuing my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy under the supervision of Cherie Miller, LPC-S, CEDS, IEDS. At Nourished Soul, I work with individuals, couples, and families, with a special interest in trauma recovery and relationship repair. I also work at an inpatient hospital (Medical City Behavioral Health Alliance), therapeutically supporting patients in crisis.

Before beginning my clinical training, I served as a women’s ministry leader and trauma support coach for more than 10 years, where I led support groups, mentored women through crises, and developed emotional wellness curricula rooted in both psychological insight and spiritual care.

I am currently completing specialized training in Gottman Method couples therapy, complex trauma, and Neurolinguistics Programming (NLP).

Let’s Get Personal

Over the years, I’ve learned that living our best lives takes intentional effort, a lot of grace, and a good sense of humor! I have been happily married (most days) to my husband of 25 years. He is the fun to my nerdiness. Together we have two college-aged sons and a very spoiled 4-year-old French bulldog named Pepper. Her personality is just as spicy as her name!

We love to watch movies, sports, travel, play any kind of card or board game (super competitive family). I am an avid reader and a lifelong learner.
