New Years Resolutions that Have Nothing to do with Weight

I realize you might not do New Year resolutions or maybe you just sent an intention or pick a word for the year… whatever you prefer, you do you! But in case you’d like to set some goals for 2024, I wanted to share some ideas that focus on well-being beyond the scale!

Improve Your Relationship with Food: Cultivate more satisfaction around eating by savoring your food, listening to hunger and fullness cues, and embracing a variety of foods without judgment. You can check out my free Intuitive Eating Jumpstart Guide here or get the Intuitive Eating book on Amazon here.

Get more/better sleep: Establish a consistent sleep schedule, create a relaxing bedtime routine, limit screen time before bed, and maintain a comfortable sleep environment. Regular physical activity, even just walking, can also improve sleep quality.

Prioritize your mental health: Make self-care a non-negotiable. Dedicate time each week to activities that bring you joy, relaxation, and peace of mind. Whether it’s reading a book, practicing yoga, or enjoying a hot bath, prioritize your mental wellness.

Nurture connections with others: Strengthen relationships with family and friends. Plan regular catch-ups, be it virtual or in person. Quality connections are vital for our overall happiness, and fostering these bonds can bring immense joy or needed support in difficult times.

Practice gratitude: Foster a mindset of gratitude. Start a gratitude journal, jotting down three things you’re thankful for each day. You could also download a gratitude app. Focusing on the positive aspects of life can shift your perspective and enhance your overall well-being! I also recommend practicing gratitude for your body, even when you don’t like how it looks or feels. This is a powerful practice for developing a more positive relationship with your body.

I hope this gives you some ideas of other things you can focus on during this season of diet-mania! Whatever you decide to do moving into the new year, I wish you all the best 🙂

Much love,
